It is undeniable that nowadays the attention of the international community is almost entirely set on the war between Russia and Ukraine. The escalating military clashes cause very great concern to the security, not only of the conflicting countries but of Eastern Europe as a whole. More significantly, this particular conflict also leaves indirect impacts on other countries even though they are not located in the European Continent. For example, the war causes the price of oil and gas to skyrocket and creates trouble in the economic activities. Therefore, it is urgent that the war must be stopped.

However, it is still sceptical that there will be a ceasefire anytime soon judging from the intensity of current military clashes. It is argued that at this rate, if there is no negotiation to stop the war, it is a concerned that Ukraine would lose the control of its own territories to Russia.

Against this backdrop, Asian Vision Dialogue meets with Dr CHHENG Kimlong and Mr AM Socheat to discuss the issue including its root causes and its potential impact on the peace and prosperity of the world.
