Topic: “Cambodia-China Economic and Trade Cooperation in the Digital Age”
Speaker: Dr. NGOY Yuthnea, Lecturer, Beltei International University of Cambodia
Host: Ms. CHHOUN Sreynou
The relationship between Cambodia and China is described as an ironclad partnership. In 2010, the two upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership. As known, China is Cambodia’s top investor, top donor, and most significant trading partner. The two countries signed the bilateral Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement (CCFTA) on October 12, 2020 and it entered into force in January 2022.
Besides bilateral relations, Cambodia and China are also the participants in the same multilateral economic cooperation including the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). Cambodia is also a partner state to China’s major initiatives including Belt and Road Initiative and the Mekong-Lancang cooperation. Against this backdrop, it can be argued that the cooperation between Cambodia and China is being so prosperous. Therefore, Asian Vision Dialogue, in this episode, wishes to bring an in-depth understanding to our viewers on the relations between Cambodia and China through the exploration of Cambodia-China Economic and Trade Cooperation in this digital world.
